I would like to further understand codecs etc but so little time and so much to know and do. I don't even know how many codecs there are nor how to adequately define one. Thanks - fairly obvious answer I guess I assumed that the highest level would be using some codec that's lossless but I guess that's naive and unrealistic. Qobuz Although many of you may think Qobuz to be the new kid on the block when it comes to music streaming subscription services, it was launched at about the same time as Spotify and WiMP, the precursor to TIDAL. Mostly 16 or 24 bit flacs - matrix, audience, etc Experts estimate TIDAL’s market share to sit between 1 2, much lower than the 31 market share commanded by Spotify. There are many places to legally download live stuff ~ 100 mb/song. Despite Apple Music being really lossless, and having many 24/96 quality tracks, tidal sounds a lot better to me. I like how MQA sounds and iFi unfolds it really well. The soundstage on the HD 600 isn’t great, so it’s pretty meaningful. Sound quality: tidal sounds warmer and fuller. I'll gladly provide sources from various places including Spotify or tidal - If you like the Grateful Dead I'll show you stuff that will knock your socks off, if you wear socks. Tidal is better than Spotify’s for me, so winner: Tidal. Most of my music are FLACS taken from various sources from 40 yrs ago - live. Like the difference between FLAC and wav. I know that FLAC is lossless and at one point knew more about it but I forget everything. Yeah well here's where my lack of knowledge will be readily apparent but gotta learn. I listen to the Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia half the time anyway so my views are skewed big-time After switching to Android from iPhone a decade ago I don't think I could deal with it. I realize this means nothing but was curious how many were in this sub 1,2 yrs ago vs Spotify?Īpple music. This sub has ~ 22K vs almost 500k for Spotify. Now that I rudely asked a question first I guess you see I think the quality is noticeable and would □% recommend you check it out yourself.Īs far as the UI I think they are similar and both suck. My question is:if I'm not using MQA is tidal highest level a waste of money? Why does it sound better? I'm using equalization outside of both so why the difference? Most (but not all) sound noticeablely better on tidal than Spotify. But I love music with every fiber of my being. I respect and appreciate them and realize that me liking equalization might even disqualify me from being an audiophile. Deezer was the first streaming music service in France, and more. In Tidal I listen to everything on hifi - as I just don't enjoy the MQAs as much. Plans and pricing: Premium, 10 per month or 120 per year Student, 5 per month Family, 15 per month for up to six profiles. I just finished a trial of Spotify that lasted for months. I'm gonna make a post as I have a question which could probably be answered here anyway. I'm thinking of leaving Tidal - also frustrated by various things.
